Have any of you joined up to the virtual reality game Second Life? How easy is it to make money and what do you get for the basic free membership? Is it any good?

The person above me nailed it.
The membership is really that easy.
Even without a membership, just joining as free gets you a lot.

The only drawback to not having a premium membership is you can't build anything. (As in a house.)

It's really like nothing you've seen before.
I've been there less than a week and I'm still exploring.
It's truly mind boggling as you meet people who actually design these beautiful houses that become a real house in this virtual world and their virtual selves live there and go to classes, drive cars, go to parties, the beach...even decorate christmas trees!
It's really wild.

It really is a Second Life!!

You really do need orientation classes when you start though, as there are many laws and rules you have to follow.
(Different rules for different places)
And when you fly (yes, you can fly!) oftentimes you fly right into areas that have been blocked off, sometimes there is no block and just an alarm system and if you don't heed it, you get kicked out of the area.

Right now there are lots of glitches as they just did a new update.
It's causing a lot of problems, but should settle down eventually.

It's a lot of fun, you should def. join.

Just don't get sucked in and forget about your FIRST LIFE!!

Ha Ha

Oh yes and jobs are relatively easy to come by.
As a woman, you can always be a stripper (Yep, really) or you can gamble at casinos, or you can be a security guard, or you can actually read through the classifieds there and find a job!!
There are also lots of chairs around where you just sit there and make money. It is hard to find an empty one!!

It is certainly getting a lot of press. I have gone in and created an account. It is like any other program in that you have to learn the basics before you can get the most out of it.

The basic membership is free. There another level of basic that allows you to purchase land for $9.95. There is a premium level of $9.95 / month that lets you do everything. They even give you a stipend of money to spend in the virtual world.

If you take the time to learn it, it can be pretty cool. I am just starting and have attended orientation island and a cd release concert. I am an occasional second life user. The music that is available to listen to while playing features some great undiscovered artists.

If you like games and have a computer that is powerful enough with a high speed connection you will be just fine to at least give it a try with a free account. See the link below for more information on the different types of accounts.

Good luck.
