I agree, and would see this as one political party taking the "high ground" by giving up what is a moral issue that should never have been politicised in the first place.

How shocking that this question came from a man!!
I don't agree. There are too many women who are passionate about being able to choose what happens with their bodies, for this argument to ever go away. However, I'm not certain why it is a political issue, when in all truth, it is something that each person must decide based on their own values. To me, it is part of the whole "freedom of religion" thing.
When you're the one who has to carry the baby for nine months, while fielding looks and unfortunate comments from strangers because they think you're a whore, then have to handle labor & delivery, then the heart-wrenching choice of keeping the baby or giving it up for adoption...THEN come back to me and make the same suggestion.
Also, I would accept making abortions illegal, if all of the anti-abortionists out there had 10+ adopted kids in their homes. It's not right to talk the talk without walking the walk.

Why should they give up something they've already had a win on? Did you miss Roe v Wade or something? Yes, people are passionate about abortion, whether pro-choice or pro-life. Right now it is the pro-lifers who are on the losing end. What exactly is it you would like the Dems to give up on?

No. The majority of democrats and independents as well as a third of republicans are pro choice. Nationally, for the whole population, the figure is around 60%.

professional-abortion is the right to have an abortion. professional selection is wider ranging in that that is the right to opt for for your self. both seem on an same area of the argument yet one is better a approaches attaining than the different. If it s a question of the youngster and the ability of the mummy to develop the youngster, enable the youngster stay and position the youngster up for adoption. The are a great number of prepared mom and father devoid of the ability to have their personal little ones accessible.

I think they should change their party platform and embrace pro-choice. Most Republicans are in that party for that reason only. Many Democrats are in their party because they can't stand the thought of being a Republican. If they changed their platform there would only be about 12 Republicans in existence.

The rhetoric could be toned down on both sides. It's obviously a religious/moral/ethical issue, so both sides must as people of conscience continue to push their positions. But since that is the case, it seems that we could at least be civil in our discourse. Not even the most extreme on either side can think it's worth religious warfare, so why not be decent to one another?

Just as long as the rest of the people can give up on the pro-life issue.

Didn't they already win that one in Roe v. Wade? They got the court to acknowledge it as a constitutional right. They only keep talking about it because it is one of there only victories.
