Non religious, but songs about believing in yourself, and achieving goals. Inspirational without being Christian. I'm thinking along the lines of pop, r&b, alternative...but nothing comes to mind!

Bob Marley didn't sing "Don't Worry Be Happy," it was Bobby Mcferrin. Anyways, to answer your question, you should check ou the song "Hear Anything?" by Inspection 12 (Great song if you can find it):

"Hear Anything?"

June 15th and ever since it's begun to make more sense.
It'll do you good. It'll serve you well.
Is it what you want? Is it hard to tell?
If it were up to me I'd send you packing.
When in your life were you quite as happy?
And he'll run. And he'll jump through the hoops
And it's all that he can do not to fall on his face.
I know for one that I'm inspired.
You single-handedly braved the fire.
The crowd asked questions. We told the truth.
"Who the hell is that?" "That's Mick Mars!" "From Motley Crue?"
So there you go...don't be so prudent.
Look to your soul. There's something to it-
You can see through it. Just listen to it.
Something dwells inside us all. It surface before too long.
And this determines fate so we must choose according to our hearts.
This is yours and it shows on your face and I've seen it all along.
It's your love. I should know.
But you turn your head and walk away
To give up any chance of reaching goals-fufilling dreams
If I were you I'd listen to my heart.

Some other songs:
"You've Got A Chance" by Bad Religion
"Come Out Fighting" by Pennywise (or The Vandals)
"Starstruck" by Yellowcard (I'm not a fan of theirs, but this song has that theme)

The old standards...

Rubber tree plant or High Hopes...

Just what makes that little ol' ant
Think he can move a rubber tree plant
Anyone knows an ant can't
Move a rubber tree plant
But he's got high hopes
He's got high hopes
He's got high apple pie in the sky hopes
So any time you're feelin' low
Instead of letting go
Just remember that ant
Whoops, there goes another rubber tree
Whoops, there goes another rubber tree
Whoops, there goes another rubber tree plant.

Remembering Laverne and Shirley singing it makes me smile!

Hero

(gulp) wind benegth my wings... (Don't beat me! )

I like that Jimmy Eats world song too... (the name of it is escaping me right now) I think its called "The Middle?" that song always makes me feel better!

My youngest son likes the song Dumbo's mom sang to him when they locked her up. Whenever he get's sad or is unhappy about something, I catch him humming it, like it's on automatic because it is the lullaby I sang to him when he was a baby!

baby Mine... I love that song too!

Baby mine, don't you cry
Baby mine, dry your eyes
Rest your head close to my heart
Never to part, baby of mine
Little one when you play
Don't you mind what they say
Let those eyes sparkle and shine
Never a tear, baby of mine
If they knew sweet little you
They'd end up loving you too
All those same people who scold you
What they'd give just for
The right to hold you
From your head to your toes
You're not much, goodness knows
But you're so precious to me
Cute as can be, baby of mine.

That song actually makes me cry still... I adore it! I hope that it is a source of comfort for my son always!
