What do you think about human beings having the ability to choose the sex and traits of the unborn? In especially patriarchal societies such as China the male is always kept but what is the ratio of boys to girls and who can carry on the generation if females are 'disposable?" i think its sick. Your opinions?

It's a scary subject ... who knows what we're going to be capable of doing in 20 - 30 - 50 years ... shoot me might be able to select hair, eye, skin, sex ... everything ... I think we're messing with nature when it comes down to it ... I have a feeling the future holds lots and lots of these " perfect " humans that scientists have discovered ways to detect diseases or genetic traits that will harm the baby ... that movie " The Island " where everyone is being cloned for " insurance " purposes sounds exactly like what would happen - since money rules the world ... it's going to be strange seeing all these changes in technology in the next 50 years ... !

I've heard of that too. Sounds mad to me. I don't think whoever made us humans isn't going to like the scientist who do that much. As for China I kinda wish the little girl was going to be the next Emperor of China. Just to prove the ideas that gals aren't worthwhile is just plain wrong. I would love to adopt a Chinese baby gal b/c of that.

I think it should be left up to nature. People start manipulating genes and were are going to start having some mutant things walking around. It is sick and wrong unfortunatley human life is not respected as it use to be.

if we were over-populated it would be the same thing here. and of course men are more important than women so the boys would be kept. if way more men started happening then laws would be passed to keep girls. the gov't rules our lives just be glad it is not here yet

I agree. When my wife and I had our children, we didn't even want to know the sex before they were born. Life is better with a little mystery.

Very bad. The Arab culture is similar. Women may become scarce. Then they will try to outsource a wife.
