im looking for a cell phone replacement that only sends and recieves text messages. Something cheap. Is there such a thing?

i need something that my daughter can get ahold of me to pick her up from places, but I cant afford a cell phone. a beeper/pager would be perfect if it did txt. Kinda like a walkie talkie that you could text. If its not out there....somebody should come up with it.

There used to be a text device from Motorola that you needed a separate earpiece to use it as a phone. It had a qwerty keyboard and a plain LCD display. I think it came out around 1998 or 99.

there is a beeper it's old and it can only alarm you when someone want u but u cant talk neither sms on it
