chocolate release endorphins i believe
and i take a pill called 5 HTP that balances seratonin levels in the brain and improves mood. i've read studies where participants have felt improvement in mood within 5 minutes of taking 5 htp. check out a local health food store for more insight, but it will not help severe depression, but is very capable of pulling someone out of the doldrums

no real comment on foods or drinks, but if you try st. john's wort be aware that is has many drug interactions. some may be serious, others may just make your medications innefective if you take any prescription products. check with your pharmacist before trying anything yourself. with all the new prescription products there are many options, and a high degree of safety and studies that prove they work in most people. if you really are clinically depressed you will probably be treated for about 6 months, then the doctor will try and taper the medication away. good luck.

There are some belongings you are able to try. you should attempt deep respiratory routines, the position you're taking very slow deep breaths, and count number with each breath: count number, say a million,2, 3... on the inhale and a million,2,3... on the exhale. One version has you bend down which include your palms close on your ft and then slowly upward push to an finished status position as you inhale. Then as you exhale, you slowly bend down back. Meditation is likewise meant to be good. in case you are able to prepare daily and stand as a lot as even quarter-hour an afternoon that should be functional. you basically want a quiet position the position you shouldn't be interrupted. after I do it, I sit down with my legs crossed adverse to a wall with some pillows adverse to my again. then you actually ought to close your eyes and breathe deeply and slowly, attempting to sparkling your concepts of all concepts. some human beings use a mantra - the position you p.c.. a be conscious and imagine it again and again. that's a be conscious which skill something to you, or only an worry-free be conscious like "one." Stretching and rigidity routines are meant to help. What you do is tighten diverse muscular tissues, say your calves, for 5 to 10 seconds, then slowly launch the rigidity. try this some circumstances and then try yet another muscle crew. that is likewise a mind-blowing thanks to get into or finally end up a meditation. i have heard of alternative issues that are meant to paintings for human beings. some human beings keep a mag to jot down or draw something they experience they want to, and write in it purely at the same time as they experience the want. Others positioned on a rubber band on the wrist, and snap in adverse to their pores and skin on each occasion they experience less than pressure. i'm particular your therapist ought to produce different routines and recommendations for you, yet those are those i comprehend of.

I've heard that St. John's Wort helps with depression
You could also try a chamomille tea in the evenings, that may help you unwind from the daily stresses.
Good Luck

This is not a simple question to answer. There is a significant amount to learn about diet and it's relation to such illnesses as depression. I can promise you that there are many common foods in the typical modern diet that can contribute significantly to depression. ... One of the most significant is sugar. Another is refined foods and fried foods. Also eliminate all forms of synthetic sweeteners such as are found in diet sodas etc. ... And definatley avoid alcohol.
It would be very helpful for you to determine what foods you are eating which you may in fact be allergic to. .. Wheat and corn and dairy are some of the most common ones that individuals are found to be allergic to.
It is also very helpful to be eating plenty of raw fruits and veggies (organic produce is best),.. and especially dark green leafy veggies such as lightly steamed Kale and raw spinach. .. These will help one suffering from deppression.
There is a natural food supplement that you can buy which is known as a "blue-green micro algae". .. You can buy this in most any vitamin/supplement store or natural food store. ... This is available in two main forms. One is a commercially grown form known as "Spirulina". .. The other is the "wild harvested" form which is most commonly known as "Klamath Algae" because it is mainly harvested from Klamath Lake in Oregon. ... Personally I prefer using the wild algae as it is more potent and has certain nutrients which are not present in the commercially grown algae.
The algae can be purchased in tablet, capsule or powder form. ... I think the capsule form is best to start out with. .. The algae is a completely balanced food source and contains all the nutrients the body needs in a form that is extremely easily assimilated by the body. .... I can guaranteed you that if you eat a significant amount of the algae you will experience within minutes, a relief from your deppressive symptoms that will stay with you for perhaps a period of hours.
In the beginning, and depending upon how clean a lifestyle and diet you follow,.. your body will need to gradually adjust to a daily intake of the algae. .. It is completely safe to take as much of it as you desire,.. however because it is so potent a nutrient source, your body will be recieving nutrients that it most likely has never been getting and yet has always needed. This will typically cause a mild "Detoxification" reaction to take place in your body. .. Such detox reactions can take the form of mild headache, mild diarrhea, mild skin blemish etc... .. If this happens,.. just lower the amount of algae you are taking and then gradually increase over time.
You could start out by taking two capsules twice a day with food. Do this for perhaps five to seven days and then add a 3rd daily dose of 2 capsules to the regimen and follow this for another five to 7 days. ... Continue like this until you reach a daily dosage where you are aware that you are experiencing direct benefit from the algae. .. You may find this to happen at around 10 or 12 capsules per day, but if you need to go higher, do so. ...
Remember, this is a natural food and is completely safe to take as much as you want to. ......... Once you reach the amount where you are experiencing the benefit you are seeking,... you can stay at that level for awhile until you find that eventually your body needs less each day and then eventually you will find a maintenance dose amount that will change as you face different levels of stress in your daily life, and you become aware of how much algae you need to help yourself at any particular time.
Try the algae. You will find it very helpful. It has helped many individuals with depression and even more severe forms of mental illness such as schizophrenia.
There are other natural supplements which would be good for you to take for depression. I will tell you here that a good quality fish oil is a good one to take,.. although I would recommend that you do some research to determine what dosage you might want to follow.

When I was really bad, I used 5-HTP and my mood changed over night. Chamomile tea is calming. Exercise is one of the best things to do, but I know it's hard to think about moving your body when you feel down. Oranges are supposed to help.
