What do you mean by 'too big'? you live where you live and go where you want... would you rather live in a tiny place when you can see it all in a day and a month later you're totally bored of it?
London is great and you can easily find a fairly quiet spot to call home and enjoy your local neighborhood without caring about the rest of the city.
It is very expensive and busy, though...

there are many factors with regard to the answer and they depend on what you are doing in England, try and find friends and realitives who haev experiences of an area, and seek their advice. London is a very big place, however,like most things, given time you will get used to it and begint to love it!
If u decide that London is not for you i reconmend u consider the south west, this is only 3hours train journey from London but has a very differnt style of life, it's much safer than the north of england and is very nice.

London. Worth every cent, and the reason it's fabulous is because it's so big!! Best city on the planet.
