Very sad as a fan, but even more sad for his family. He was very close to his father, brothers, and other family members.

The thing that strikes me the most was that he was only 40!! Thats way to young to die. He was a talented guy from a talented family. He had his mainstream success but he was definantely a staple in the black community especially during the late 80's. Everytime I think of Gerald the first song that pops into me head is Casanova (which was actually done by a group he had with brother and a friend called Levert). I must have been around 8 when it came out, and it reminds me of the summer. R.I.P.

I was really shocked when I found out. It was a very unexpected loss. Now that he's gone he will/can be remembered by his music and for what kind of life he lived. Gerald Levert was a true, honest and caring person. He is now Resting In Peace.

He's the reason I started listening to R&B. I was 13 years old listening to Gerald Levert while my other friends were listening to gangster rap.

I had the honor to work with Mr. Levert and his father and the loss was devastating for me. One of my fondest memories was the time the promotion company that I had worked for brought Gerald to our state and we were preparing his dressing room. One of the cutest things that was on his rider (dressing room list) was gummy bears! One of the requirements to have in his dressing room were gummy bears. We had to drive everywhere to find a big container filled with gummy bears. It was hilarious! His personality and smile were breathtaking! He will be truly missed!!! I don't think I would ever get over the lost.
