I just took the GRE and I got an 860, I need a 1000 to get into the program I'm applying to. What can I do in the next 3 weeks, when I take the test again, to raise my score by 140 points?

You have a chance. Firstly- experience in taking the test will give you an edge next time- so you should do better.

You can also study the areas that you feel weak, and take a lot of sample tests. It was years ago- but I was able to raise my score 160 points by taking the test 3 times and taking a course.

Get a practice book and work the exercises all the way through the book. It may also be possible to find a prep class (for probably a good bit of money), but I'm not convinced they can help more than a good, thick practice book. But do work on it, including looking up the references on the ones you get wrong, until you are sure you understand the principles behind the answer, not just the specific answer.
