Well, I am not sure if that is even a very sensible question, because it sure doesn't seem to take any consideration of who that person is and what HE might prefer. Human beings aren't just one big Ant Colony, but comprised of individuals with very different personalities, hopes, dreams and wishes. I don't even think that a thousand bucks would go too far in changing somebody's LIFE. These days (as I know from experience) ya can hardly get a dental fix-up on one tooth for that!!
But if I had a thousand dollars to spare with that purpose in mind, I would ask that person how he or she feels that money could be applied to help their present situation, or resolve a current difficulty. I suspect a great many of them would either say "to pay off some of my bills" or "to give to...." and then they would mention the name of somebody else they felt was in a worse shape than they are. I know the world is full of real "pieces of work" - but I always get the impression that there's a lot of generosity of heart out there, with needy people thinking of others even needier.
