1 DUI is too many. He should stop driving altogether for the next 2 years and that will let him think about what he has done.

Unfortunately, since he has 18 DUIs and 2 more pending, it's obvious that restricting his driving privileges don't mean a thing. And the laws of the state won't allow him to be confined for a great amount of time (I think it's 5 years) unless he's caused an accident resulting in major property damage, injuries, and/or death.
But since your question is what should they do, I'd say lock him up for 5 years, fine him $125,000 cash, and suspend his license for life.

Having DUIs is not a laughing matter. What you basically have is a person, not in full command or control of his/her senses, operating a piece of machinery that can kill.
ONE DUI is one too many. But in the case of 18 DUIs, that guy's driver's license should have been taken away long ago.

so this guy has most likely been driving without a license and just keeps getting caught.
personally i think after the first dui, you should get it suspended, the 2nd it gets revoked, and if you get another you get 1month jail, and for each one after that an additional 6 months jail (so like this guy who is going to have 20, the jail time for the 20th should be 10 years). there is no reason these people should be out on the roads and if fines and small jail sentances arent working then something drastic needs to be done

he should go to prison and never be able to get behind the wheel of a vehicle again. that is just insane. if the laws were tough enough he would never have gotten that many in the first place.
Here's an idea: Send this guy to a morgue to work for about a year. Let him actually look at the bodies of innocent people who were killed by drunk drivers, etc. Let him face their families and loved ones and see their reaction to losing someone like that. Maybe he would get some idea of how final death is and how it affects the lives of so many people they leave behind. Just maybe that would make him think twice about driving drunk.

18 is way too man DUIs. He never should have been allowed tog et so many. His lincense should be revoked, he needs to be locked up. Once he gets out of jail he has to go to AA meetings until the day he dies and if he hit anyone he should have to pay all of their bills.

Jail, jail, and more jail. Followed by license revocation (as in forever) and court-ordered rehab.
One is too many. Repeat offenders are a menace - and so is a court "system" that ALLOWS them. Whoever has a voice in this Ohio district should be screaming their heads off on this nonsense.

One time is too many.
They should revoke his drivers license and he needs to be admitted to a hospital and treated for alchoholism.
Forget about his drivers license, he needs help.
Nothing more frightening than to wake up from a drunken binge and to find out you killed someone while intoxicated.
The said thing is, most of the time, they dont even know they did it, because they were too drunk.
Try dealing with that the rest of your life.
He needs support from everyone who cares about him.
He has a disease and there is help and hope.
You would not ignore someone who needed serious medical attention, would you?
There is no difference.

There is no reason for having 18, he should have been locked up long time before it got to 18. Might as well say 20 now.
