I have just finished reading "Price of Honor" by Jan Goodwin and I must admit my opinon about Islam changed considerably.
I concluded that peaceful Muslim do not dare to demonstrate or speak against fundamentalists out of fear, because these groups (e.g. Muslim Brotherhood) threaten with death anyone who dares to criticize them.
Do you agree or disagree with me?

An American friend of mine says that if peaceful Muslim spoke out/demonstrated against radicals, the opinion of the West about Islam would improve... hence the question

And some of them ARE taking a stand. And I applaud their bravery.

As a peaceful Muslim myself living here in NYC I have to say that things have been done to try to promote peace/ at least here in the city. There have been peace rally conferences and during the really bad Palestinian/Israeli conflict this summer there was a picket rally for Peace. Maybe it just doesn't reach folks outside of NYC and even here on the news they show a 2 second video clip and then it's right back to the blood and mayham.
There are over 1 and a half Billion Muslims in this world. The ones who live in the US are generally scattered around and too few and far between to have much of a voice.
My husband who is from an Arab country says that if you speak out there- that there is fear of death.
Such a small percentage of muslims are terrorists. Really a needle in a haystack. It doesnt appear that way to America because you dont see any Muslims running the news broadcasts or behind the camera lense. So you are not getting to see the whole story.

In Tulsa, where I live, a Muslim wrote an editorial to the newspaper in which he spoke out against radical violent Muslims. He indicated that all peaceful Muslims should band together to eradicate the violent form of Islam that is making all the headlines. He spoke against mosques that raise funds for terrorist organizations.
He was kicked out of his Mosque the next day and was told he would not be welcomed back until he formally retracted his statements. No story was printed in the paper about this.
Not only are the peaceful Muslims afraid, but the news media is as well.

As a "peacful" Muslim Man, I choose not to speak out against "radical" or "fundamentalists" Muslims because they are expressing their outrage the way they understand Islam. Do i support the "suicide" bombings and other "gurellia" warfare, No I don't, however, give them F16, Tanks and other modern day weapons and defense and I'm sure the "suicide or roadside" Bombings would stop.
There is no real fear of "radicals" doing anything if I speak out...but i'm not speaking against them or in support, God will be their judge. Many of Americans will fight in the same manner if our homeland was invaded and we had minimum weapons to defend ourselves.
As Americans we must change our ways of understanding "radical" Muslims, because in their original Nature is the cry for Peace..however the desperate ways they choose to fight is like a squirrel trapped in a corner...

The question really is, "If there are any moderate muslims.. where are they?"
How many times have you seen on CNN, FOX, NBC, or any other major news program where you see muslims in the middle east, and even in Europe protesting whatever it be the cartoons of Muhammad, Israel, USA, the war on Terror..etc
VS.
How many times have you seen moderate muslims protesting against the RADICALS and holding up signs saying that the radicals are just crazy people that hijacked thier religion? Where are the pro-west muslims?
Helll, I don't know where they are, do you? I have not seen a SINGLE protest by moderate muslims protesting against radicalism and the Jihad. If anything, they're supporting it silently by not doing anything.

you are right , if they condemn their brothers or speak out against them they are subject to be killed or some times even worse,but, my question is why did they accept this vile religion in the first place? also , how can you say they are peaceful when their religion tells them they are to kill the infidel, meaning us,
in my opinion they are sleepers just waiting for the command to attack us at the same time the others attack from the out side , then we will haft to fight the ones here as well as the ones attacking from out side, there may be a few who want to live in peace but my guess and from my experience the majority is just waiting for the signal,to attack from within. we have let our stupid politicians pass laws etc that will prevent the gov, from rounding them up and putting them all in concenstration camps for our protection, so it will be up to the civiilians to fight and to kill them or be over run , and since our gov, has been trying to dis arm our citizens; and so few people have guns; and you can bet they have al types of guns smulleged in so what do you think will happen ?e will win but at what cost? and this will be life or death struggle, so be prepared, buy a damned gun and learn how to use it now,and don't listen to our politicians the police have already addimmted they can't protect us, many law enforce ment agencys have warned the public to buy guns and learn how to use them, why do you think they would say such a thing??
so if you value your freedom or religion take warning or you will be Muslim speaking Arabic and kissing the earth 8 times a day and taking order from some Imam
we have one chance left tell the Muslims that they will renounce their vile religion or be deported , that should also go for the so called American converts, why would you put a fox in the hen house??? that would violate their constitutional rights, but their religion is not condusive to our society, and a great danger to our people and country,

Looks to me even radicals fear radicals, let alone peaceful people. I am pretty sure in Iraq Sunnis fear Shiites and vice versa.

nicely if we talk against those muslim they cant assault us muslims cuz in the event that they do they does no longer be considered muslims. a mulsim can not kill yet another muslim or any harmless individual (which incorporate non muslims). in the event that they do they do no longer look to be considered musilm. they are going against allah and islam. muslims are no longer terrified of speaking up its only that the media doesnt instruct sturdy muslims in any respect. media needs human beings to hate muslims. and so that they finally end up tortureing the excellent muslims cuz they dont desire human beings to appreciate the certainty. e mail me for extra questions.

if peaceful muslims spoke out they would be silenced swiftly by the sword. sad but true. maybe if instead of just speaking, they could let their actions speak loudly and make a stand. wouldn't that be better.
