I need to persuade an audience that nudity should be allowed. Can anyone give me reasons to support or oppose my idea?

There are more people in this world I don't want to see nude than there are that I wouldn't mind.

Interesting Question. When I was really little (like 6) I thought that nobody should wear clothes and that we should all run around naked like cats or dogs.

However my views have changed rather significantly since then.

It's not that I wouldn't feel comfortable walking around in the nude, but i think that it could make other people uncomfortable. I think that clothing is also part of our culture, though a strange part, it is necessary in most of the northern hemisphere to keep us warm. Even when it is hot outside I find where white linen is more cooling than being naked.
I think that maybe if we had it allowed there might be a higher rape rate...
However, people would probably feel less insecure. People would just know what they look like and they wouldn't have to worry about it, whatever they think of me whatever.

Though I still think clothes are the best idea

A double edged sword this question - I suppose if you can deal with the practicalities of warmth, protection from injury and hygene then being nude would be more honest and maybe one person might not be able to intimidate another.

I certainly feel that we are far more inhibited than animals - but then we are self-aware and most animals, well lower end animals don't seem to be - not from a sentience point of view - only a preservation stand point.

I think society is far to wrapped up in being worried about propriety and not what is natural. For example seeing the male penis aroused is still far to emotive for most people, surely our sentience should be able to adapt and cope with something like this when it is not the time and the place. We seem to live in denial that we have to excrete waste mater like every other animal - I don't mean we exrete in public - I just mean we should assess why we have dreamt up expressions like ''I'm going to the bathroom or the restroom'' - why can't we just say we're going to the toilet for instance?

I think what you are doing with your audience is very important - because basically we are in danger of destroying ourselves because of ourselves - we must start to learn the the old brain or cerebal oblongata is there by default and that the new brain - the reasoning, selfaware, analytical brain or cerebal cortex needs to keep a rain on the old brain but at the same time not suppress it - we continually try to suppress our sexualities and that is very dangerous. For example prostitution is frowned upon in western society when infact, if it was allowed to be more open and properly regulated would help to release the tensions within society!

How's that - enough material for you ? !

The best way for you to make a persuasive argument is to base it upon situational factors. For example, there are situations where simple, non-sexual nudity is totally appropriate (or should be), such as at a beach, pool, sauna, outdoor sunbathing, etc. There should be no limitations against nudity of this type, and in fact many cultures already accept this as commonplace.

On the other hand, there are many situations where nudity would be inappropriate, such as in church, business situations, restaurants, etc.

Nudity itself is neither goiod nor bad...it just is. What gives it a positive or negative valus is the situation in which it occurs.

Hope this helps.

Um...hmmm...I would have to disagree on that one.

We have perverts in all walks of this life and this is while everyone is clothed. Can you imagine what would happen if people were nude? I am not against it because it might help many people be more comfortable with their bodies and not have the "food illnesses" we have today in young girls. But then, you have that population of perverts who would then cause some other psychological damage with their behavior (as they do now).

I think it would be distracting for many that are not perverts. Especially young boys who have no control of their physical anatomy when excited. :)

It's a good concept, but one that I oppose, simply for the fact that we do not have that culture today. We have nude beaches in some parts and even there, some people are not comfortable or you get the pervs...you'll always get those, I suppose.

I personally am much happier nude and am almost furry enough to still be covered. Those around me are not happy with me nude. So here are some good side effects of mass nudism.

No Pick Pocketing
No Gang Colors
NO MORE THONGS (By thongs I mean either type)
No more neckties
Lot more people exercising
Sun Screen sales would shoot through the roof

I know there are others but this all I can think of for now

Well the only real reason for nudity not to be alowed is the fact many people are ashamed of the way there bodies look and asume that everyone else should be ashamed ofthemselfs too.

Why should the fact some people are ashaped of the human body stop people from being alowed to show of there's when they are not?

Well, ideally in a warmer climate, with proper sun screen and mosquito repellent, you could make the case for SECURITY and SAFETY. It works on several levels, one being harder to hide weapons or contraband. Two, would be people would be more weight/health/exercise concious with those rolls of flabs jiggling. Three, people would stay away from mad guard dogs. Four, some religous fanatics believe if they see a naked woman other than their wife they must kill themselves. Five, you could tell how a man really feels about you. Six, no tan lines. Seven, if seen in a pasture no one would question you being naked with sheep.

I think people should have to pass the aesthetic test first. Only the good looking ones should be allowed to go nude. On second thought, if we can just limit it to really hot looking women, that would be a good enough reason for me. Free eye candy. Any volunteers? Nah, didn't think so.

Jeez, society wont even let us smoke a naturaly occuring herb, pretty sure they wont let us run around naked either. If you want to be nude, you will have to join a club of like minded individuals, in a private setting. For me, it's a personal choice, like a hairstyle. It wouldnt bother me or not. But there are a lot of prudes who want to choose for everyone else out there, The loudest minority usualy gets its way!

Simply wear clothing optional signs and buttons, LOL. Actually I'd look into the beliefs and artistic teachings of Yoko Ono. (John Lennons) wife of the times.
