I think your mom loves you a whole lot and is worried what might happen if she isn't close by. It's hard to let you child go somewhere far away for the first time. Try to put yourself in her shoes. Try to reassure her that you will be fine, show her that you are a responsible adult who can take care of herself and will be fine. And let her know you would love for her to visit you.

WOW shes really OvEr PrOtEcTiVe! You are 18 girl your old enough to make your own decisions. Tell your mom that you really want to experience college life with friends, boyfriends, classes, and dorms all the fun stuff. Obviously you must be a good person because you've been under your mom's wing for so long. But tell her what you have decided tell her you love her and are not doing it to hurt her that she can trust you to make the right decisions and your wanting her support not permission. I did that and my mom was upset but she supported me and by the time my first semmester was over she had gotten used to it and was very proud and supportive and no longer upset. You need to do whats best for you. Good Luck

at 18 you are no longer required to abide by what your parents want or say. IF.... IF.... you are no longer living with them or being supported by them. If you want to start your life then you need to find a place to live, get a job, etc.
Once that is done... you are on your own. If mommy and daddy have a problem with that then that is their problem. However, before you go pissing them off.. be sure you can support yourself cuz once you walk out that door against their wishes.. chances are it will be hitting you in the butt on the way out!!!!

If you want to go away to college dont let anyone stand in your way. Its a once in a lifetime experience and you shouldn't miss it if that is what you want. And if you want to move out there is nothing she can do. Your 18. Just remember, she does this because she loves you.

I think its time for you to find your own future and place. I can understand you Mother wanting to protect you, especially in these times. She definetely does not have the right to hit you, or threaten you. She would not let anyone else treat you this way, would she? No-one has the right to tell you what to do when you pay for your own place and expenses. Move out "on your own". Explore what you would enjoy by being on your own.

You're never going to prove to her that you are a person. She thinks you are a 'product' that she has to take care of, and you will never be anything but a child to her.
Partly, she is probably trying to save the cost of you going to school somewhere else and trying to cover it up that she doesn't have that kind of change. You need to set up your own way to pay for it (grants, loans, job etc.) if you want to be on your own.

Apply to colleges, apply for financial aide or student loans. do it all on your own if you have to. But dont let your mom tell you what to do. If you have a specific college in mind, dont get all mad at her yet... apply and see if you get accepted.

IF your the type that has to do as you please, you'll move out. But rememeber, rent isn't free, neither are utilities.
