I've run out of ideas...

I want to get a man who "has everything" but who has been a tower of help to myself and other families over the past few months, and we want to buy a gift for him...HELP?

He's in his 40's, long-term relationship. I know he's interested in race horses, and property.

Many thanks

Go to a place locally that makes those little trophies that kids get when they do well at sports. They're not expensive and you can have something done specially for him.

We had a gentleman help our organization in a similar fashion... and we got him a lucite heart that is used as a paperweight in his office and the engraving on it was customized to his nickname (Cabana Boy) with a little palm tree and a quote from us.

They could do something with a racehorse on it... like a trophy... and you could put something on there like "For Michael Murphy - Our Chef de Race" or something like that. (Chef de Race is a horse racing term given to sires that have been especially influential. They're classified as brilliant, intermediate, classic, solid and professional, according to whether their influence is speed or stamina. If he's into horse racing, he'd understand the term) :) Then have everyone sign a card to go with it...

I will tell you that our angel has so much money that there's nothing we could buy him... although because I knew he was a great admirerer of Winston Churchill I did find an early book written by Churchill through Alibris that he wouldn't have thought to get himself... but anyway, I know the lucite heart sits on his desk quietly reminding him of how much we love and appreciate his involvement and his help. It's understated... and he knows what it's for :)

How about one of those ____ of the month club things? Cheese of the month pops to mind since it sounds like he has expensive tastes.

Dinner at their favorite restaurant is good too. He probably doesn't want more clutter around the house anyway.

Food is always great. Try something like Omaha Steaks, they have some good specials going on right now for their steak combos. Even if someone has everything, they still need to eat!

1. i'm not being nasty when i say this but if he is not shy purchase several message sessions (the legitimate kind)

2. also, paid dinner (for 4) to one of the horse track private dining areas while he watches the races.

Get him a nice bottle of booze and some cigars. Dewers or Remy Martin and some Ashton cigars will make him smile. it will also give him a hangover if he's not careful
