I'm not sure what kind of pills your talking about. However if it is birth control pills yes you can hurt the baby. If it is prenatal or aspirin it is OK if the Doctor says it's OK. Tell your friend to go to her doctor to get everything checked out. Also some women have experienced hair thinning when they were pregnant. It's very uncommon though and don't dye, perm or do anything to your hair besides shampoo and conditioner.

I had taken some unapproved over the counter cold medicines around 5 to 6 weeks because I didn't know that I was pregnant and the baby was born healthy. When I figured out that I was pregnant and not just late in menstrating I stopped taking any medications until I spoke with a doctor. Some medications are unapproved because they cause birth defects and others because they cause complications with the pregnancy, so it depends a lot on what medication it is. A doctor could give you more specific information.

When I was like 3 or 4 weeks pregnant I took a number of medications that are not acceptable during pregnancy. ( i didn't know I was pregnant) I'm now 13 weeks pregnant and everything is fine. I have never heard about hair falling out.

I think the baby will probably still be okay, it was on two different occassions and she stopped doing it then she probably just got by, but if she keeps on then the baby will probably wind up with developmental problems - like being a slow learner type of problem. Also, yes your hair does fall out quite a bit. It doesn't seem so bad if your hair is not too long - but if you have long hair, it seems like it is all falling out.

STOP TAKING PILLS OF ANY KIND...
YES! YOU CAN REALLY DAMAGE IT!
The first 12 weeks are the most important to a baby's development.
Please talk to your Mom... or Dad... or a teacher.. or a doctor... somebody.
