To me, as a person becomes more of a "professional drinker", they become boring, obnoxious and usually a lying sack of crap who is only interested in his/her ego trip. Do you also find this to be true?

A drunk is not to be despised or hated. In a drunken state he can not control himself.I agree. All you mentioned is possible to find in a drunk. He is a person suffering from some kind of ailment. Most drunks are alcoholics. They can find new life stay sober and live a life much better than many normal people. Only he needs to ask for help and he will get it.

I dated an alcoholic for 5 years. Everything I did was wrong and I was never good enough at anything. I can remember him asking me what he had me around for since I couldn't do anything. It was the worst relationship I was ever in. I hate drunks but even so I would deny that he was a drunk and an alcoholic. Yes, everything that you comment here is true. What is worse; however, is that they do not fully realize the harm that they do.

Alcoholism is poison to families everywhere. Even after an alcoholic gets help, the scars can still be seen in their loved ones, especially the children.
