It is the trend. If enough people wear something or do something it becomes the trend. I wish I had a son that wore the pants around the knees just so I could take them away from him........That is far worse than the ripped jean look.
I am so old that if a girl wore ripped jeans when I was young she was pitied because she couldn't afford decent jeans.

I have one pair of ripped jeans and I love them, they have small rips in the leg area. I dress them up with black shoes and a black top. Ripped jeans can be sexy, but your right, they can also be worn trashy. Happy Holidays to you!

because they want to look trashy... that's a trend I never understood.. and for the record ladies.. if you're over 28.. lose the look.. you're too old for it

Most times I think they think it makes them look good but duh it went out in the 80s so how good do you think you really look? Go read a fashion magazine and through out the crap clothes!
