I ,sometimes, think ; Are these equivalent words or have different meanings? What should be the parameter to distinguish them from each other. Is wisdom related to abstract thinking or thinking out of the box? Is it acquired skill or genetic trait. Can a foolish person become wise with passage of time by imporving his or her knowledge, education etc.

Wisdom is sound judgment.... it is not related to abstract thinking.

Passion is related to the abstract. ( just an opinion)

Maturity: having or showing fully developed mental powers, capable of reasoning and acting sensibly when I say acting sensibly that is not reacting with impulses and only utilizing intuition....

lack of maturity is going with your 'gut' instincts without reasoning out and thinking through all the variables of the problem.

A foolish person can change and grow and expand their mind if they choose to.

wow I enjoyed the question...I should probably look up this subject as thats what this forum is all about getting us to think! I LOVE it!

It's a good question, and not an easy one to answer. Here's what my dictionary has to say:

Wisdom: soundness of judgement.

Maturity: having or showing fully developed mental powers, capable of reasoning and acting sensibly.

The definition of maturity seems to me to be describing wisdom, but also allowing a clause for deceit, if that makes any sense. I think wisdom is a deeper understanding of reason and knowledge, which surpasses maturity, and can occur more freely throughout the age groups. I'm not sure where it comes from, but I think intellect and creativity have more to do with abstract thinking and 'thinking outside the box'. These, of course, can contribute to wisdom.

and I believe with the passage of time a foolish person could become wiser if they chose to learn from their past experiences..the passage of time does not alone mean they will become wiser....

I believe that wisdom is the knowledge you gained as a soul growing into the world
while maturity is the knowledge you gained as growing as a person in real life

at first you should know that nobody is foolish apart from the psychologically diseased people. and second, maturity means growth of the shape or figure. but wisedom is the growth of the thinking and brain. for example, a plant can be mature but can not be wise. ok?
