Hey umm... I want to get Xbox Live for Chrismas and I was just curious as to what kind of connection I need. Like just a regular dial-up connection or do I need ethernet or what? Also, what are the rates on it and do you think that they are a fair price or over charged? Thanks, Rae

1. You need high speed internet access, DSL, Cable Modem. No dial-up.

2. It'll cost you 50 bucks for an entire subscription (best deal). Don't bother with the ones that gives you 3 month access, etc. Not worth it since it costs more.

3. I think it's a fair price. It's only about 4 bucks a month, which is not a lot considering what it offers you. You can play others online, download the latest patch, try out demos, get game and movie trailers. Lots of stuff for just 4 bucks a month.

4. But of course, all those goodies come with a price: the marketplace. XBL is just a trojan horse for the marketplace. Marketplace is where MS really makes the money. You have to pay for additional game contents (like fancy armor for your horse on Oblivion), gamer pictures, themes, old arcade games, movies, music (haven't check lately, but I'm sure it's going to incorporate Zune into the marketplace), etc.

You're gonna need a high-speed connection. There is a list of Xbox Live compatible ISPs at:

If your rates question is about the rates charged by ISPs, that will vary, and you'll probably get a discounted introductory offer.

If you meant the rates of an Xbox Live membership, the Silver membership is free, but doesn't let you play on-line. Unfortunately, I don't remember how much I paid for my Gold Subscription, but I thought the price was fair.

you could placed certain settings on the Xbox stay chatting element. you could mute human beings in the adventure that they annoy you. you could block communications with human beings. you could set your Xbox so that you purely are allowed to speak with human beings on your friends record. you could %. and choose the human beings you pick to be acquaintances with Its quite darn secure in case you question me. reliable luck xD
