Politics is a philosophy, even though it is categorized as a science, and currently economics is viewed as a science that is based on a mechanical worldview . However because of current and future problems that will arise with economics as a ridged science (as defined by Adam Smith in the 1700's) it is probable that economics will return to a philosophy of purpose and principle, i.e. consumer sovereignty is the cornerstone of competitive capitalism. Where as advertisement does not info the consumer but spews propaganda.

In economics you can have a nationalized way of running things, like canada has nationalized health care, and still have a democratic election. Or you could have china which has some privatization taking place and still have communist elections.
