If there were really time machines in the future couldn't they come back and tell us.

Mathematically speaking time travel is theoretically possible under certain conditions. These conditions are namely, at very small distances, within black holes, wormholes or antimatter.

In fact we now know that antimatter goes background in time. Further and within Planck's length, particles go to the future to "borrow" energy or matter and then go to the present ( they do this all the time).

A black hole ( event horizon) is a point with a gravitational pull so strong that not even light escapes. At event horizon, in the border of black holes time would stop and there is speculation of what could happen if you could cross the vent horizon without being destroyed in the process.

Wormholes use the curvature features of space and could help travel to the future. However the apertures are quite small and there is no guarantee a human could get through the wormhole complete.

Now the problem of time travel is how to transport a human being through the black hole, worm hole or make him ( or her) antimatter and then matter again.

So time travel, yes it is a reality. transporting a human being through time really belongs to science fiction writers for the time being

They could tell us, but that may be an altering of their past. It hasn't happened for us yet but for them its done already and their present (our future) is the result of our present (their past). If time machines do exist in the future they may have the presence of mind not to tell us anything. If we know the future it will affect our decisions about it.

For example, what if they come back because a plague is coming for us in say 2 years. They tell us, so we are already working on a vaccine or they give us one and we stop the plague. Well, without the presence of the plague they had no reason to come back and so in our new future they don't come back. Thus we are never warned and we allow the plague to happen. Which of course ends again with them coming back and maybe subjecting everyone to a time loop trap.

To warn the past or to say anything to the past is to change it. And change can end with some very dire and dangerous results. Since we already know this now (nothing I said is originally my own idea here), one can assume they know it in the future. If they make the machines (since everything I said assumes they pulled it off without knowing if it is even possible to pull off), they should know better than to change their past.

That's why I doubt that time counts as a dimention. My math teacher suspects that Newton and DeCartes came back in time machines and stole the famous math theories of other people, but unfortunatly there is no evidence to back this up. The problem is, you wouldn't be able to go forward in time.

On the contrary, Lorenzo Steed! If they did so they would stop the time machine from being invented in the first place.

There is a reason time machines do not exist. It is because we, as all the rest of our universe, is composed of physical time. This is evidenced in the physics trilogy - E = mc2, m = E/c2, and c2 = E/m are the three parts of it. The last is that of physical time, or the physical structure of a gravitational field. Notice that the only unchanging value is that of physical time (c2). It is this value that we are totally composed of. This means all forms of energy and mass are able to exist only in present time, apart from either the past or future. There is no manner for us to travel into either the past or future, because they do not exist.

if no one has come back that means there are no time machines.

Well, if they did, it would disrupt the time continuum and then it would branch into another reality - and we wouldn't be affected in OUR CURRENT TIME CONTINUUM.

So - in this universe - there is no way to know until we actually build it... or until it came back to a specific point and then we'd be part of a time branch.

Not until we invent time machines first....
Then they can come back as far as the date time
machines were invented..

Au contraire, mon ami. They would do exactly the opposite. Which is what they have done: they come back in time to prevent us from learning how to time travel, so they can keep the knowledge to themselves.

If? Yes, they could. But, since time travel is not possible, it won't happen.
