I keep hearing that term on TV or in newspapers. In the East it would never be used, and I would personally find it offensive to be refered to in that way, it is as though they were saying that only Hispanics have ethnicity, and everybody else is just a plain old Engllish speaker. Does "Anglo" include black people? Is there any discussion about this?

anglo comes from the term anglo saxon, referring to ppl who came from england/uk. i don't know about hispanic ppl using it, but we native ppl use it as a way not to say "whites," "white people" or any use of the term "white," to describe "white" ppl. the word caucasian came so much later than the word anglo, so i think anglo is used more often. i use the term "non-ndn ppl" more often than anglo...i'd rather not describe ppl according to their "color," sometimes though it's hard not too. when i'm with family, we just talk in our native language, and that cuts it all out.

Actually, anglo refers to "Anglo-Saxin" which is the first recorded english speaking caucasions. And in reality, they call us "Gringo" which means someone who doesn't have a natural accent for Spanish. Finally for the record, yes they do have names for other groups, and just like Anglo, or Gringo, they are honest and based in history.

non-Hispanic. Latin and Hispanic are literally not a race, yet a life-style. All races are lined in Spanish-speaking cultures around the globe. And to Spanish-speaking human beings, race isn't in various of circumstances an situation. yet in a list of races on a census, white or caucasian is mostly listed with White or Black of hispanic beginning and different races. I actually have continually wondered why one's community language one way or the different alterations one's racial status.

I assume that "Anglo" refers to us white people. "Gringo" would be the name for Americans... and I hear that the translation isn't a pretty one.

I also know that most "Indian" (native American, First Nations, etc) refer to whites as "Anglos" as well.

They have a name for anglos called "gringos". They got names for other races as well.
Hispanics are very family oriented so that may be why they are so clannish and lump everyone else together.
