You must be from the U.S. ( no offence) The metric system is so easy ( that is why 98% of the world uses it). All you have to do in the metric system is to move the decimal place. In your case meters to kilo-meters. Kilo meaning thousand so... 1700.00 meters becomes 1.70000 Kilo-meters
