We have a 10 month old getting into everything and pulling herself up on everything. Is there a way to put up our Christmas tree and protect it from her? Gate? other ideas?

They do sell gates that you can put around them at babies r us.
What we did for our daughter, and will do this year for our son now...(he's one) I bought all plastic ornaments and tied ribbon around them to hang them on the three with. It worked very well for her, and we hope it works for him, too!
Good luck with it, and have a safe, merry Christmas. ;^)

My three never had a real problem with the tree...we did put it in a corner, put non-breakable ornaments on the bottoms, and kept a close eye out...and all three were fine. Now it's just our Greyhounds that give us fits over the tree...they keep knocking ornaments off with their tails when they stand beside it to look out the window!! They are more of a pain than the kids ever were! lol lol Have fun and a great holiday!!

When my little monkeys were getting into everything. We actually put the Xmas tree inside a playpen. We also limited the time the tree was up. I think it was up for about 24 hours total!

I had tan-tum babies, only 15 months apart so it was a real nightmare.

Looking back I would have probably invested in a nice counter-top tree.

Good luck, and have fun this year!

I would normally say just keep telling her no, but that gets to be more work than anything. A gate is a good idea. My 1 year old has not touched my tree very much yet. he always wants his toys instead. other than a gate, I don't know. Good luck!

When you put up your tree, tie it near the top to a bolt or nail in the wall. Put all breakable ornaments away for a year or two and just put up plastic or hand-made ones. Keep an eye on her.

I just read a story in our local paper about this---they put their tree in the PLAYPEN (of course, didnt put the baby in there, too!) and that kept it safe from the dog, cat and the baby!

I used to tie my tree to the wall ( from the back) and it never showed...so even if the baby does get to the tree, it wont tip on her

you need to teach her the word NO now. Make sure that you dont have glass ornaments close to the bottom of the tree and make sure you watch him or her. Make sure you slap them little hands lightly to let him or her know thats a no no.

Play pen, baby gate, put it to high for her to reach, or keep a very close eye on her.

when our kids were small, we would get a littler tree and put it up higher where they couldn't get to it. she will still enjoy the lights. just wait until she gets older to get the big trees, and starts to really understand what is going on...then she'll be really excited! it will be terrific!
