That's a very interesting question. Pre- WW II war Japan, caught up in it's own turmoils.

In all likelyhood, Japanese Teens of the 1930's probably wanted to do similar things as other Teens from the West, go to to the movies or at least dream about the experience, ride a new bike, perhaps get a nice battery powered/AC radio or a portable record player, buy some hit of the week type records, look at nice magazines, dream of travel.

In short, cultural differences between the West and East would have some influence into Japanese traditions, but by the Thirties, Western culture had made inroads into the East, and especially Japan enough to probably have a similar influence on it's young.

the 1930s was the rise of Imperial Japan. Male teens wanted to serve their emperor. Female teens did the same thing as women in the US did during the 40s. building up the resources of their countries

To rule all of southeast Asia, China, Korea and pretty much the Pacific. By the end of 1945 their teenage years had passed and all they got for their troubles was gaping chest wounds, napalm related burns and a large dose of isotopes that carried on for the next couple of teenage generations.
