That is why I like working on the phone because if a customer is rude, I can just hang up on them.

If you work for a franchise like Walmart, you'll always get customers. Who cares about the rude ones.

I don't care if they return as a customer.

I've seen angry customers write complaint letters to Walmart asking for compensation about unprofessional customer service, etc. and we didn't do anything about it.

They are supposed to be but I work at an Antique Mall where everything is priced, ppl are always bringing stuff up to the me saying can't you do a better price on this? No I'm sorry I can't each booth is individually owned and that person sets the price as the price that they want. It infuriates me sometimes when they stand there and argue with you over price thinking that you'll change your mind.

No they're almost always wrong but if you won't let them do whatever they want they'll spread bad word of mouth and that's a kiss of death. Even if they're a bad customer and you hope they don't come back, they might tell a good customer and that one might be lost, also. Most people know that if they argue enough they get what they want from the store anyway. Some people are so cheap and have no class.

Unfortunately...
that was terrible too- worked in a convenience store during my high school years and lemme tell ya, I just wanted to go off and smack the crap out of some customers. Always reminds me of the movie Clerks and why I love it so much because Kevin Smith wrote exactly what happens. Like the coffee- what, I'm suppose to drink this hot?! Grrrrrr. And then you see the customer take the ice from the inside of the soda fountain! Then I had to go and sanitize again.

Rarely. The funny thing is the ones who are right are usually the calm ones who bring in their receipt because they were overcharged. The idiots who try and yell and belittle you are 99% of the time wrong. But we just laugh at you after you leave.

No the customer is not always right but to keep them as a customer we have to make them think they are and do what ever we have to to make them happy so they do return as a customer.

It depends if it within my power to meet their request or not. If I can't then that's it. Once I had a wedding guest come into my department shopping for a wedding the next day. She complained that "it's the middle of bridal season and you're out of everything!", so I told her, "it's the middle of bridal season and we can't always have everything in stock." She wanted what we didn't have and didn't allow herself enough time for us to get it. I can't help her if she doesn't give me any time to do that.

Okay, IF customers are always Right then the company IS always wrong!
Seriously, when it comes to CS there is to a be a win-win situation. I'm not currently in retail, but the days I did spend it taught me a lot.

no, they aren't, and this is going to sound mean, but I'm tired of being treated like dirt because I'm on the other side of the counter.

Just smile at them and tell them you know just how they feel. That is the retail workers code.

They think they are, and we're supposed to treat them as if they are, but we all know they're NOT, don't we?
