back again, been bashing my head against the wall with fighting with HP who will not help at all, tried telling me it is a Microsoft issue and pushed me off. Have Windows XP with Microsoft Works 7.0. Still not printing spreadsheet right and has it all messed up. Now HP tells me to go into printers and add printer and put in Deskjet 550C and that should work!!! So my question is, will it hurt anything to do this and why should this work? This is used for a small business and don't need to mess things up anymore than what has been done. This is a complete nightmare!!! Please help so more. Thank you for your responses. They are very much appreciated.

Deskjet 550C? wow, that is a old printer.

XP has what they call native drivers for legacy printers. Basically, if you cannot get it to work with these drivers your in trouble.

Try installing the printer through the "add printer" feature in Windows XP, I checked the HP 550C is listed.

Don't know about the spreadsheet problem, but this pretty much is your only chance.

You can add the printer and select Deskjet 550c as the 550c is a universal printer driver, most of the printers work with 550c except the host based printers. so no need to worry

Adding a printer will not hurt anything, it will just install another printer...that way you can test it to see if maybe something is corrupt with the other printer installed.
