Not much too it as long as you have the appropriate slot.

If you have an AGP, then either take the AGP card that is in there out and then place the new one in, there is usually a tab on the back of the slot that is a springy piece of plastic, make sure you hold it over if removing and older card.

The next variety is PCI-E, same drill, assuming you have the slot.

If you have on board graphics, most newer computers will recognise the new card and disable the onboard, some will let you use both, if you don't have any video on the new card, connect your monitor to the onboard video connection and go into the bios/cmos and disable onbard video.

Hope this helps.

The motherboard is where you plug it in. If it says AGP on the box, it is likely to only have one slot that the card fits in. If you already have a graphics card plugged in, you can just unplug it, plug the other one in and it should work. Whenever messing with electrical equipment, turn the power off first, and avoid touching the flat sides of the cards too much.

Plug it in with the computer turned off, turn it on, and it should work. Then you will need to insert the driver disk and install it, or download updated drivers by searching on the net.

If it is a pci-express card, it is a similar process, with computers, you just plug it in where it fits!!! I presume that you know how do figure stuff out to some extent, such as the screws, plugging the monitor into the graphics card's monitor slot, and engaging the little clip that holds it in place, just a little plastic thingie.

Good luck, get someone to help if it is difficult, or get someone here to run you through it on Yahoo Messenger.

Is the gfx card PCI, AGP or PCI-E?

Basic installation is the same for all cards with minor differences.

Some AGP slots will have a lock on them, make sure you are aware of this least you damage your card.

Many of today's newer gfx cards require power supplied by your computer's PSU. Most use 1, some use 2.

I would recommend going to the gfx's company website and look for install instructions there.

Hope that helps!

1. Take off the panel of your computer, usually the left side.
2. Unscrew the card that your monitor plugs into
3. Push the little tab (if it has one)
4. Remove the monitor cord from the card
5. remove the card
6. Insert the new card
7. Engage the tab
8. Plug in the monitor
9. Put the panel back on
10. Turn on your computer and install the drivers

11. YOU'RE DONE!
