Sadly, yes. For some people its no big deal as they believe Christmas in the 21st century is commercial and just for children, but some people become hysterical or fanatical in their approach to Christmas and unfortunately it sounds like your may be surrounded by these types. May I suggest the cheapest options possible i.e. Handmade cards or buying in bulk from a pound shop or market and if possible hand delivering as many cards as you can! Alternatively, go on holiday. No-one expects you to spend on christmas items if they know you will be spending for a holiday unless, again, we are discussing your unreasonable friends/relatives. Good luck and merry christmas!

I've explained to everyone that this year I'm not sending cards/paying for postage but am donating a sum to charity. Goody two shoes me eh!? Saves a load of bother anyway. Perhaps you could do the same.

Some people will, i think, because sending someone a card is a way of showing them that you care about them so if you dont send them a card they may think that you dont think a lot of them.
