If it's a work relationship, I'd send them to their work addresses, and keep the cards professional. If they're real friends, send them to their home addresses, and feel free to be friendly, throw photos in, ect.

No. We don't send any cards any more - we put what we would have spend on cards in a charity box in our reception. It is much easier than writing out endless cards to people who you don't really know - or like very much !!

That will amount to being too formal in a situation where people ought to be informal! And, where you can or do meet them daily, it will be a sheer waste of valuable resources!
