It is an interesting job, you get to use your degree and/or previous work experience in a more interesting way than sitting at a desk with 'manager' on the front, you get to help people and you feel very satisfied by that.

On a practical level, you have high job security (so long as people breed and need skills, you'll have a job) and holidays sympathetic to childcare (because they match the kiddies' holidays).

The downside is that there are lots of targets that MUST be met, some kids are difficult and some adults feel they can be abusive (for example assuming you couldn't get another job when you graduated or calling you lazy/overpaid) and you have no right of reply. You tend to work very long hours in term time (7.30am-7pm) and have 'homework' - marking, planning, paperwork - but then you do have the holidays to rest.

I'm an English teacher in Korea. Before this I was a grade 1 teacher. The most rewarding thing is when a student writes a letter to say thank you, or a first grader learns to read because of what I taught him, or a difficult student shows progress. It's the greatest job in the world.

I want to be a teacher! When im qualified in three years time, that is what im aiming to get into. I have just always wanted to work in the classroom, and help children learn! its so appeaing. To be responsible for a whole class, to teach them, help them develpo and prepare them for the future. However, there is the decling behaviour in schools today, but it's still the ideal job i would like to do.

Because it is a very rewarding career, i teach children and it is good to be able to see them develop and share their knowledge with others in the group. It makes me feel good to know that I can help people in life to learn new information on a particular subject.

Meeting an adult that you have taught who still remembers you in a positive light is very rewarding, but at the same time it can make you feel quite old!

Because they have all this knowledge, and want to use it the best way they can without that knowledge becoming stagnant.
Teaching is the most rewarding and satisfying career to me.
