The star indicator is a scale of quality, with 5 being the best, fanciest, cleanest and most accomidating and 1 being the filthiest, most downtrodden, and just generally worst hotels.

Keep in mind that a hotel rating is an opinion, and it may differ from yours.

A five star hotel is basically a luxury hotel. It has to have an amazing reputation and have good service. 5 star hotels are special and are not like any other hotels.

It has nothing to do with astronomy. It just means on a scale of 1 to 5, where 1 is worst and 5 is best, it is a 5.
