What kind of chores would a farmhand or ranch hand be given if he doesn't have much experience or doesn't know as much as an expert framer or rancher ?

Well, I grew up working on a farm a few miles from my house.. and I guess it depends on what type or size of a farm or ranch you're talking about.
You could be asked to milk, rope, shovel manure, feed cattle with hay, stack hay bails - if its a regular farm of a smaller size.
A true ranch may need you to learn more about horses, roping cattle, branding, repairing fence, cattle health, etc.
Overall, you won't make much money, but you'll never love or appreciate life more. Its hard work, but its fun and rewarding.
