My real name is Rusne. (All of the letters are spelled out). My family is Lithuanian, but I live in the U.S. My name means "island" in my language. I have to tell everyone how to pronounce my name, which gets kinda annoying. No one has made fun of it, though. I know that it is a really unique name, but I would like to know what you think. Is it and ok name or should I change is to Katrina, which is my middle name?

Keep it, it's a beautiful name. My son's name is Eli (pronounced Alee) he is always having to tell people how to pronounce it, but it's unique and sounds wonderful. You're name stands out and makes you stand out. Be proud of it, it's beautiful spoken and the actual meaning is beautiful too.

Changing your name wont necessarily clear up your problem. People mispronounce even the easiest names. My name is Cassie which is said like Cas-e however people constantly call me case-e which is spell Cassy. I can understand the confusion but I would think at least half might actually say my name correctly but nope. Basically if you don't have a generic name like Amy or Jennifer you can pretty much bet someone will mess up your name.

The more unique the name, the prouder you should be of it. Everyone loves to be original and I gotta say you're definitely original. I wish that my name, Liyana, stayed unique but apparently, I found out that theres a lot of Liyanas out there.. they're all imposters of Liyanas, I should think.. you can usually tell by the way they spell their names (Leanna, Liana...) Bahh, humbug! lol. Lucky you.. Rusne Katrina.. wow.. your number should be easily picked out in the phone directories cos you sure ain't no Adam Smith :)

I really like it! I've never heard it before. Unique names are cool and people have a hard time forgetting people with unique names. So if you want to be remembered keep it!

Each person is unique and especial in their one way. Take the questions as a compliment. I would have asked if I know you person, because the name is different. It is a great way to get to know new people, think of it that way also.

I say stay with your orginal name. You'll come to appreciate it when you are older. My full name is Ashby. I have spent years trying to teach people that it is not Ashley. This will be a lifelong sturggle, as I am sure yours will be. I look at it as people who cannot read correctly or do not pay attention to a name.

No, don't change it. I like your name. Unique names are the best! Alot better than common ones like Michelle, Christine, Rachel, Angela, Andrea, Cindy, etc................

i think it's a lovely name, provided i am pronouncing it right in my head. is it pronounced "russ-knee"? and hey, at least it means something. think about all the kaylees and shaquondas and treneeces out there who have completely made-up names.

then you get the people like ruth b, who take a perfectly good name--eli, pronounced "ee-lie", and louse it up by saying it wrong--"alee".
