I have a latch on my garage door. Sort of an extra protection item as I have a garage door opener. Because of

the wind, I pushed it to latch. Now I can not figure out how to unlatch it. I have looked for a trip mech. but don't really know what I am looking at. My only arternative is to remove it from the door and I kind of like the feature, although I have never used it. Now I can not leave the house. The lock is on the left side of the door and pushed a bar into the rail. Can anyone please help me?

put pressure on the door( push down) and wiggle the latch

You should take a picture of it so we can try and see how it works. OR look up the manufacturers website to see if they have any "how to's" on using their products.
