I dont like my name, actually I HATE it. I cant stand it cause people call me names nowhere close to my name or I get called by my mothers name. I am tired of geting called Ashley (no where near my name!) , Lauren (nowhere near my name!) , Jasmine (Take away the first last add one take away the 'e') , Yasamataz! (HATE IT EVEN MORE!) , Yazzy, and more. I go by a different name, I really want to like my name. Is there a porblem with this?

Yasmin is a lovely name. Exotic, just like the flower and it's Persian in origin which makes it even more interesting.

There is no name in the world that won't be abused by kids looking for a way to tease. I named my son Adam thinking there was nothing that could be used to tease him.... he was called A-bum for a year by an annoying kid. He hated his name that year but now he loves it.

If there's a variation of your name that you like (my son Zachary doesn't like his full name so he asks people to call him Zak) then you can go by that. If you have a middle name you like, you can use that and if you just want to pick a different name for a while, there's nothing wrong with that either except it will probably disappoint your parents who put a lot of thought into your name.

I hate saying this because it sounds like I'm dismissing your problem (which I'm not) but this is a "phase" that a lot of people go through. It has a lot more to being unsure of yourself than it does with your name and as soon as you get back to feeling confident, you'll likely find that you like your name.

If your name is Yasmine, why the hell are people calling you Ashley or Lauren? I don't understand that.

And get over it...lots of people hate their names. But there are a lot worse than you have, and they still do nothing about it. Wait until you have kids...what if your child hates their name and decided to change it? It would likely upset you. Your parents gave you that name for a reason, so deal with it.

Is your name Yasmin? if so, that's not a bad name. It's actually pretty.I don't know why you would hate it just be glad your name isn't something really stupid like Phennius.

If you really don't like your name can you go by your middle name?

Don't feel bad because you have an unique name. My name is Amanda. Do you know how many people have that name? Even in my lil hick town I went to school with 5 people in my grade alone with that name. Be glad you can be you and when someone says your name you don't have to wonder who they are talking about.

ok so my name is Christina and i absolutely hate it, it's not even a hard name but for some reason everybody gets it wrong! i get called Kristine and Caryl all the time i play a lot of sports and i have about 20 first place trophies and only two of them have my name correct so i totally feel for you. go with a nick name like Minnie or something, lots of people go by their middle names too so that is also an option. my friend's name is Margo Caitlin but she goes by kt remember you are not alone

There isn't anything bad about not liking your name. Many people go by other names like me. My first name is Anna and I absolutly hate it. That is why I go by my two middle names Mae Rose. It fits alot better and I really like it. So just tell everyone to stop with all the terrible nicknames because you shouldn't have to hate your name because of that.

No, it's completely understandable, the way you feel. Eventually people will grow up and call you by your real name. Hang in there! It also happened to me.

...what the hell is your name?

eh, I dont like mine either. My name is "barbara". Its my moms name and her moms name! ... So people have called me Barbi since...forever. That I dont mind as much.

If you are fine with nicknames, stick with that. But if you are having serious serious issues with your name, you can change it. It is pretty expensive, but it can be done.
