When this controversy started months ago, I was thinking that Bush was not wanting to have talks with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad because that would represent him as having equal power.
I have since come to believe that is not the reason. The reason is Bush is avoiding the situation. As long as he refuses to have talks with Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, he isn't forced to take action.
Think about it... Bush basically handed over the responsibility of resolving the controversy to the United Nations.

Bush and the controlling neocons reject diplomacy. They've trashed international law and they disregard the unwritten customs and protocol between civilized nations.
"Don't you think that the leader of a sovereign nation should be treated with dignity" -- That's what Saddam thought in the spring of 2003 when he offered to talk directly and through back channels.
The US still has the same people in power. Oh, and let's not forget one more minor detail, the Israel lobby

Just call him Amadiranian.
He is not deserving of dignity when he attempts to subvert the US Constitution, by going around the Head of State to the people.
Matters of US diplomacy are the sole purview of the Executive branch of the US.
EDIT: Ask yourself why YOU cannot exercise this same "right" with the Iranian people? We cannot even get radio into those people. Radio-Free Europe probably helped us win the cold war!
Thumbs down me all you like, but this is the LAW of our land.

Okay, if you are talking about using good manners in dealing with Ahmadipoopida (sorry, I have trouble remembering, spelling, & even saying the guys name too), then lets talk manners and proper protocol. Why the letter yesterday over the head of our leaders and directly to the people? tsk, tsk

The man is a pure racist and is all for ethnic cleansing. He has stated publically and on American soil how he hates America and Israel and wants death to all of us.If anyone in their right mind listens to this ignorant *** that claims the holocost never happened, that tells us that they are anti american as well.

Not every leader is respectable. Sometimes buffoons or ogres rise to the top, and it's a poor reflection on that country. Ahmedinejad is both.
