I've always thought that, for example, if a married man cheats on his wife with a woman that otherwise has no boyfriend, husband, etc, that the single woman should still be considered a "cheater". I've heard other people say it's only the person in a preexisting relationship to begin with should be called the cheater. What do you think?

There are three parties involved in cheating and they're defined as follows:
The Cheated: Person being cheated on
The Cheater: Person cheating
The Cheatee: Person the cheater is cheating with
Keep in mind that not all cheatees know that the person they are intimate with is in fact a cheater. If they do know than shame on them but, all too often in these situations the women likes to place blame onto the other women(cheatee) when in fact most if not all of the blame should be placed on the cheater.

Cheating, is the lies and deception that is perpetrated on the wife not the sexual act. If the other woman involve is a willing participant in the deception, say if she and the wife were best friends, then yes she is cheating to. Not through her actions with her husband but the deception that she is an active participant in with a person she knows, (the wife). On the other hand, if the other woman doesn't know or isn't acquainted with his wife, then no... The only cheater is the husband. If the wife is aware of the affair and endorses or tolerates it - then it is not cheating at all.

I think it depends on the situation, mostly that if the cheat-e knows the cheater is in a relationship then she is responsible, but if cheater lies...then cheat-e shouldn't be held responsible, but if at any time the cheat-e finds out and continues the relationship, they should be held responsible
(yes I made up the word cheat-e, it means the single person the cheater is cheating with for all of you who didn't get it)

If you look at what marriage means, a man and woman pledged to each other, then yes, she is cheating what marriage mean.
The unmarried partner is saying the same thing that the married partner is saying, the vows are meaningless.
So they are cheating all of society out of what marriage is supposed to provide, a safe, intimate relationship between two people where those two people keep no secrets and rely SOLEY upon one another to face the challenges of life.
If she is having sex with him, they are risking a child and that would cheat the faithful wife out of resources she depended on her husband to provide if he now has to share resources to support a child by another woman.
Yes, I firmly believe that married or unmarried, both affair partners are cheating.

No, because the single person is not cheating on anyone.
That doesn't make it OK, but they are not a cheater. But yes they are an adulterer because they are participating in adultry.
Who cares, everyone get's what is coming to them in the end.
Death and worms.

If the other woman knows that the man is married or in a relationship then for sure she is just as much at fault. What happened to people with morals. Is marriage even sacred anymore?...to anyone??

No, the single person wouldn't be considered a cheater. You can't be a cheater if you have no one to cheat on. They would be considered a home wrecker.

The single woman is aiding and abetting the cheating husband. technically she isn't cheating but she's aware of the cheat and guilty of complicity. if having affairs was a crime then she would be sentenced/charged with complicity.
