The human brain is in two halves joined by nerves. The female brain has a lot more nerves joining the two halves than the male brain so as a general rule women can deal with more than one task at the same time better than men but men can concentrate on one task to greater extent the women. This was important when we lived as hunter gatherers as the men hunted which meant total concentration to catch and kill and animal while the women stayed in the camp. Looking after the children, keeping the fire burning. preparing the food, picking fruits etc. all at the same time.
This is why women have less motor accidents than men because they see a lot more of possible dangerous situations while men are better racing drivers as they just have to concentrate on judging distances, speeds and angles.
So women should be better at multitasking but they may be doing tasks that do not need doing but they can train to avoid this and me can be trained to multitask

There is nothing that everyone can or cannot do. Some men are just a capable as some women at multitasking. However, preferentially, more men prefer to focus on 1-2 primary tasks at a time leaving the "smaller stuff" go. Women tend to think that the "small stuff" needs to be managed equally with the big stuff.

I used to believe this was a myth but a few weeks ago, my girlfriend doing the following while I was watching Eastenders:
- Painting her nails.
- Reading a magazine
- Chatting to her mum.
All at the same time…now that might not sound like such a big deal........….but the most bizzare thing is that she knew EVERYTHING that had happened in Eastenders after the show.
So my answer is that yes, some girls can definitely multitask.

It's more to do with your occupation than anything.
You'll find people that have very concentration intense jobs (designers, mathematicians, etc) have a total inability to multitask because they have subconciously trained their brains to focus on one job. If they stray from their thought process it all goes to pot.
In the opposite, people with smaller but more simple tasks, can multitask like demons. They have trained their brains to be able to maintain several thought processes at once. People do display a preference to be one or the other.
By and large though, it's not women that can multitask, it's more specifically mothers.

Most women consider driving and chatting on their mobile "multitasking".
Ask one to mow the lawn, clip the hedge, sweep the drive and take the dog for a walk and they're stuffed!
Get my drift?

Definitely a myth, my girlfriend is a case in point. If she tries to do 2 things at once she is absolutely hopeless. For instance she can cook herself toast or beans but if she tries to do both for beans on toast then she will burn either the toast or the beans.....she freely admits that it's a myth.
