When you see what sort of idiots they have for politicians, an aids denier for a president and an assortment of buffoons who are ministers that would struggle to get hired by mcdondalds. This news item says that this month their were 58 attacks on tourists and thats the only ones that were reported. With twenty thousand murders and sixty thousand rapes per year, the lives of hundreds of thousands of tourists who will be going for the world cup will be put at risk all in the name of political correctness. In giving an african country the right to host the worlds biggest tournament fifa have decided that they will try an experiment that will backfire, it would not be as bad it they gave it to Malaysia or Thailand as these countries are developing as well but dont have an army or illiterate savages waiting to butcher people.

Fifa happy with 2010 progress
22/11/2006 17:55 - (SA)

Johannesburg - A delegation of Fifa officials expressed satisfaction on Wednesday with South Africa's preparations for the 2010 World Cup, declaring they had made more rapid progress than their German predecessors.

"Fifa is very happy and satisfied with the progress made," said Horst Schmidt, who is to take up a new post as Fifa's coordinator in South Africa.

"Not only is the country on time, but a bit ahead of Germany at the same time. We are happy with preparations and now it's for the Local Organising Committee to maintain the momentum," added the German who was one of the driving forces behind this year's tournament in his homeland.

Schmidt was part of a delegation, which also included Fifa general secretary Urs Linsi and marketing director Jerome Valcke, who have been briefed since the start of the week on preparations for the first ever World Cup in Africa.

Schmidt told reporters that the main focus was on the progress being made on building and upgrading the 10 stadiums which are to host the tournament.

"After evaluating the plans for the construction of the stadiums, we were satisfied that there is enough time to construct, equip, and test the stadiums before the day of the kick-off. The task ahead becomes very clear," he said.

The delegation's verdict after the visit serves as a significant boost to the local organisers after concerns expressed by Fifa president Sepp Blatter who said in September that he needed "to fire up the organising committee."

Irvin Khoza, chairperson of the local organising committee said he was happy with "Fifa's vote of confidence."

"The schedule will be met as proposed and come the first quarter of next year, construction must start," he said at a media conference in Johannesburg.

President Thabo Mbeki pledged last month that South Africa would confound international sceptics by meeting its deadlines and staging a well-oiled World Cup.

I couldn't agree with you more. It is an absolute insult to football fans worldwide to hold a prestigious event such as the World Cup there. South Africans are full of promises most of which they never meet and there is no chance they will live up to all the fanciful claims they make. Typical is the answer you have from Malan who is a Travel Agent from Cape Town who has no qualms in taking the bloodied dollars and euros from Tourists. The Country is a seething mass of violent crime and if FIFA is stupid enough to continue with this crass decision many, many people are going to be assaulted and/or murdered and raped.. The reason the WC went to South Africa is no more than the typical bribery and corruption one associates with FIFA and which is a way of life in Africa. Blatter is due for re-election in early 2007 and offered the WC in exchange for the African vote. Simple but true. Now even he is worried about the slaughter of innocents and these statements they issue are no more than last ditch attempts to keep some kind of half decent public image going. They were issued when the South Africans failed to turn up for an International Press Conference and the journos walked out in disgust. Typical South African arrogance - the same as their claims that they "will stage the best ever World Cup." They haven't even started building Stadiums and are still arguing about them in Cape Town. They claim that hosting minor events like so called World Cup Rugby and Cricket qualify them as hosts for FIFA forgetting that was 10 and more years ago when the place was just about still reasonably safe. They do not have the Hotel rooms and expect people to live in Boarding Houses out to make an eager buck. At a Government level they are under reporting crime and manipulating news reports so that not all is reported insisting the Pages are filled with "good news" stories.Typical neo Marxist strategies from a Communist Government filled with ex terrorists. The whole point about South Africa is that apart from being extremely unsafe the sole interest is making money out of Tourists in 2010. They dont give a damn about safety and make false promises like they can protect supporters. What a joke- they cant even protect their own citizens preferring to tell them to leave if they dont like the crime. In Cape Town last week the Tourist Operators lured 47 Tourists into a Township under the pretence it was safe and of course they were held up at gunpoint and robbed. The thugs themselves are making public statements that they cant wait for 2010.Despite all the denials it seems that both the US and Australia are on standby and by the middle of next year it will be moved once the FIFA elections are over and the South Africans continue to not deliver. For the safety of the fans and the prestige of the Tournament lets hope so.
