There are so many reasons why the Japanese have excelled in the corporate and manufacturing arenas.
I see KAIZEN and other methodologies used daily in the manufacturing industry. By all means read A BOOK OF FIVE RINGS, The classic guide to STRATEGY.
ALSO, One has to only look at the auto industry and compare their methods of operation to ours and it is clear that decisiveness and lean ideas are the keys.
In life they are efficient and able to complete tasks much faster than other cultures, Their concentration is amazing.
Look at Toyota and study the manufacturing principles, you will learn fast from them....
If you seek information on sales, closing deals, you might source business strategy in one of the major university business schools in Tokyo.

My take on why the Japanese are successful is that:

1. They have a tremendous work ethic
2. They build long-term vs. short-term business relationships
3. They are good long-term planners, vs. short-term reactionary managers

1. hard work (they don't stop!)
2. discipline (they study the "game")
3. teamwork (they understand the importance of the group or the company; each one of them understands that their contribution is important to the project and to the whole mission of the company)
4. accountability (they feel shame when their work is found to be insufficient for success)
