negatives: dangerous
positives: a great information bank
conclusion: the internet can be good or bad, but as long as you follow the proper safety rules and never stray off to dangerous sites, it's the best information bank and can give you lots of info.

(1) Safety concerns for people contacting strangers
(luring or preying on children, potential victims of kidnapping or other crime)
(2) Security concerns for personal information
(financial fraud, access to banking or credit information, identity theft)
(3) Other damage (viruses destroying computer data, hacking into websites and misdirecting traffic to fake sites)
(4) No direct check on information distributed (can be fraudulent, criminally threatening, or libelous until reported or stopped)

Positive sides:
(1) Self-publishing and direct communication long distance
(2) Online sales to larger markets or outreach to larger audiences
(3) Increased research and networking capability, and also direct referral by email links
(4) Faster spread of and direct access to information

I would offer the conclusion that the same freedom that allows biased information to be posted, allows such biases to be counteracted or checked, so when used correctly there is a balance of perspective. However, if the purpose is to abuse the internet to defraud or to cause damage, there should be harsher penalties to deter such harm.

Posititve: You can find everything and anything you want to know. Good way of finding info and buying anything you need without going to a store. Having electronic email witch makes things quicker.
