The doctor will probably have you look through lenses at an eye chart. He or she will then try different lenses to see if these changes improve you vision.
The doctor also will look in your eyes using some magnifying device. Sometimes, they put drops in your eyes to make it easier for the doctor to see inside the eye. None of this hurts.
If your doctor comes up with a set of lenses that improve your vision, he/she will write a prescription for glasses. Good luck.

When I went in to see an eye doctor for the first time I was scared. But it wasn't bad at all... First he took me into a room and turned off all the lights. I sat at a machine, and there was a bright flash of light (it took a picture of the inside of my eye, it looked really cool) Then He turned the lights on and waited for my eyes to dialate normally. Then he had a gadget that puffed a tiny amount of air into the eye, I freaked out and he had to do it three times before I held still. Once he did it, it wasn't bad at all! Other than that, it was just like a normal doctor apointment!

Well, it's pretty simple. They will check your eyes for physical problems by looking at your retina and measuring the internal pressure of the fluid in your eye. Then they will give you basically the same (but a bit more thorough) vision test that you had at the doctors office. If you need it they will put a series of lenses in front of your eyes to determine what type of lenses you need.

relax you basically just look through different strenghth lenses and they will precribe a precription. My feeling is if you went through life this far without them it will be a mild precription hence many options and not very expensive for them. Contacts are an option or glasses, possibly laser surgery if you have the money and are confortable with it but Im not sure if in your case it would be necessary. I had laser surgery but my sight was horrible

the doc will dilate your eyes with special eye drops so he can look into your pupils. He will use different lenses on you for you to determine which is clearer to you. after reading several lines of letters with different lenses, he will make his decision based on the lenses that made you see the clearest

Well, if you can't see properly, then he will recommend you to wear glasses. Remember, it isn't about fashion or how you look. It is about you getting a clear vision.
If you really don't want glasses, ask your doctor if contact lens is an option for you.

they check your eyes for eye disease and they also check your vision by making you read a chart. It tells how weak your vision is and also lets the doctor know the strength of your glasses.
