It isn't true. There is no record of anything like that is texas ever. It was inspired but a story about a man in Wisconsin. who whould rob graves and murder women and keep some body part, sometimes wearing their skin. There is no where it says based on a true story. It only says inspired by a true story.

you would have to do a search on ed gein, but the entire story isn't true just parts, silence of the lambs was also based on ed gein and that one is more tru then the other, but just search ed gein and you will find alot, but i will tell you now you will find alot of nasty crime scene photos.
