The Katrina evacuees? And how were their "rights" violated for being cut off from the government teat?

Hi, I'm new to this service but when I saw your question I had to answer. Actually, I don't have an answer for you, sorry. I'm from New Orleans and I cant tell you how embarrassed all of the working people of this city are, as we watch the ghetto project leaches try to pull their crap in another city. All their life it's been nothing but hand outs for them and it created massively stupid, overweight, criminals that have babies at a record pace. This is not a black thing it's a welfare thing and it needs to stop now. I'm glad your city is playing hard ball, maybe they will finally learn. They all want to come home for the free ride again but, WE DONT WANT THEM BACK!!! Just yesterday it got ugly again because we are tearing doun all the housing projects and it's no big secret we are not rebuilding the lower ninth ward. Don't be afraid to speak up about the problems they cause because they do cause plenty, and it's not raciest to call them out on it. They will scream racism for anything and everything because that's all they know. I lived with this my whole life. Sorry, but it might be your turn for a while. Don't let Houston be a push over like New Orleans was for so many years. You don't owe them anything! They won't even appreciate it if you did. It's a total take take society.

The majority were already on the governments teat! Well when you build a home under sea level by 14' wouldn't you think you might get flooded out, especially on the Gulf coast where there are hurricanes! If I build my house in a tree in Tornado Alley can I have some teat! Their rights weren't violated.

This is what happens when an entire class of people has been raised from birth to believe that it's the government's job to take care of every one of their needs. When the money is cut off, they indignantly run to the courts to get it turned back on. In the meantime, I don't need to tell you what a mess they've made of Houston.

God forbid they should get a job and earn their own way.

Thank you for your great questions and answers, by the way.

Seems like there's no way to wean the Katrina evacuees or the corrupt and incompetent Mayor Ray Nagin of New Orleans. I saw theft and corruption coming on day one, and dropped money in the basket passed around at church anyway. Felt like a fool. And of course we have all paid big time with our tax money as well.

NEVER AGAIN.

I think you're question should be "How long is the government expected to support anyone?" The gov't supports orphaned children, single mothers, homeless families, uninsured immigrants, Katrina victims, Indian tribes, foreign nations, etc.

By the way, I don't feel the govt should support everyone forever either. But if your going to pick on one set of victims, you should talk about all the rest as well.

I agree and the real kicker is they could have been down there cleaning up and rebuilding and getting paid for while they did it. They gave temporary housing for these workers so that wasn't an excuse and provided basic needs. Instead they chose to live off of public aid like many were doing before the storm and we get to support them!!! They arent victims anymore but squatters!

So what you're asking is that if something bad happened to you, say hurricane, tornado, or flood, is the governement is suppose to support you and give you a free ride for the rest of your life?

while I suspect many are playing it up and staying on the teat abit longer than we believe necessary I would much rather my tax dollars were spent helping them get back on their feet than on such things as Bush's new playing crads for airforce one which are gold plated, and other non necessary prok and benefit projects. fact is we didnt do the job from the onset.

the ending of "benefits" did not violate anyone's rights. it was just a free ride by freeloaders.
