Aretha Franklin I think...as well as Janis Joplin and Dusty Springfield...not sure who sang it first.

This is one of my favourite songs and was sung by a lot of people, but the main one was Janis Joplin, who made Piece of My Heart famous.
Faith Hill recorded it recently and I also have a cover by Erma Franklin, on the Platinum Soul Collection of CDs. Erma Franklin's version is my favourite. She projects much more feeling into it than the other two.

Janis Joplin made the song popular in the sixties, but I'm not sure if she was even the original artist, and lots of people have sung it since then- as mentioned above, Dusty Springfield, and Faith Hill I think brought it back as recently as the nineties... WMP tells me the original composers were Bert Berns and Jerry Ragovoy...
I like to sing it too, but I flip the genders over " Didn't I make you feel like you were my only girl/ didn't I do everything, baby, that a man possibly can?"

Janice Joplin had the hit originally. I can't remember if it was under her name or if she was with Big Brother and the Holding Company at the time though. Lots of people have remade it since then, but her version is still the most famous
