continues to drink from the 2 liter (sp) bottles of coke I buy for the family instead of getting a glass. I had fallen asleep on the couch last night and this morning he obviously thought I was still asleep and I watched him tip up that bottle and take a drink!!!!! I was furious but didn't say anything this time. How can I make him stop doing this?? It is soooo gross!!

Yes, it's really that bad. Plus I ask him not to do it anymore...shouldn't he respect that?

You could always buy one bottle for him, and another for everybody else. Anyway, I think your anger is about other issues, like him not listening to you and respecting your wishes.

Oh my goodness, you need to pick your battles. If him drinking out of the 2 liter is a problem, then just buy cans or buy him his own 2 liter and mark it as his. If this is a major problem to you, you should be thankful that you have not caught him cheating on you, he does not beat you, the bottle he tips up all the time is not full of liquor or he is not doing drugs... If this is as bad as it is, you are in good shape.

You should buy him his own personal two liters to drink out of. My wife, I do not know why, is also disgusted by my drinking out of the milk and coke bottles. She now buys a bottle of each just for me.

Yeah, it's bad, it's disgusting, but obviously it's not going to change.
Time to prioritize, pick your battles. Make sure that when there's something important in the future, you haven't given it exactly the same amount of passion you've given drinking from the bottle.
It's an easy solution. Buy two of whatever you're getting. Put his name in bold black marker on the front of one. That's his. He drinks whatever and however he wants to from it.
Sometimes the solution isn't getting what we want, but finding peace anyway. As Dr. Phil says, would you rather be right or would you rather be happy?
Trust me - sometime down the road there's going to be something you *NEED* to dig your heels in about - and you're not going to be able to express to him how important it is because you've "wasted" that passion on a 2-liter bottle.
Prioritize and evaluate ;)

Buy cans, most men do this hell Ive seen mine drink from the milk container! Yes it is gross but you can either accept his behavior is not going to stop or you can buy cans so that he can not continue his behavior. My husband has his own milk which prevents him from tippin his head back to drink mine. If this is your biggest issue in your marriage be greatful its just that he drinks out of a soda bottle.

How much do you want to bet that he doesn't just do this with the pop bottles?
What about the milk carton or juice bottles?
If it bothers you this much and he can't stop his bad habit, just buy cans. This is a stupid thing to argue about. Especially since your whole family ends up sharing germs one way or another.

Simple solution. STOP BUYING 2 LITERS! Get cans or six packs of the the plastic bottles! That's what I do; problem solved!
just wanted to add that I doubt that this is the biggest problem in your life or his biggest flaw. ...If it is, you're probably a newly wed, so just remember to pick your battles. ...If it's not, than congrats! You are one of the few people that visit this site who realizes that posting your most intimate problems on the internet is not completely appropriate.

Is that the only thing in your life/relationship that your husband does that you need to remedy? If so, you have it easy.
It is not that big of a deal to him. Express your issues about how your family thinks it is not sanitary. I would just agree with you and keep doing it. So, buy him his own 2 liter of Coke. Write his name on it and then everybody will be happy.

Buy him his own. I ketch one of my teenagers drinking from the milk carton this way, ticks me off!
Oh and do you get those whipped cream bowls? My youngest sticks his fingers into it to get some. Another pet peeve lol! Yucky nose picking finger in our whipped cream, yuk!!
Might not be a big deal to some people, but pet peeves are not supposed to make sense to others....and I got them too!
Sharing just is not what some people do, I guess?

Well, how childish and disrespectful of him. That is disgusting and I would tell him exactly that. Then I would start buying cans so he can't do that or I wouldn't buy the soda at all. Although that is not 'fair' for the rest of the family that may enjoy it as well. They make the smaller size cans now as well, so if you have little ones - they could enjoy their own 'little' can.
Good luck!
