Hello, Bombshell; re no cannibalism in fairytales... what about Grimms Fairytales, in one of which an Old Woman is fattening up Hanzel and Gretel ready to eat them? She kept feeding them lots of nice food so that they grew big, ready for the pot! And in Red Riding Hood, the Wolf was hoping to eat the heroine. So some fairytales are pretty dark and horrible - which is why little children like them. :- )

If they were real... Then i guess it would depend on their intellectual ability, if they were cultured and civilised like humans (supposedly are) then yes i would consider it cannibalism, but if they just swam around like shoals of fish then no, probably not.
But seeing how mermaids do not and never will actually exist then it's all fairly immaterial really!

Cannibalism is the practice of eating the flesh of your own kind So you will be considered a cannibal only when you are either a mer-man or a mer-maid :)

seriously i dread to think what goes through your brain for you to come up with questions like that!!
does it really matter? mermaids dont exist only in fairytales and in fairytales nobody is a cannibalism, (if im wrong i would like proof of that cos in no fairytale ive heared of does one person eat another human) so really the question is irrelevant
avian - i stand corrected!! i forgot about hansel and gretal, but does she actually eat them at the end???

The bottom bit could be deep fried in batter
The stone one at the harbour entrance is not edible.
