That we have "double the dates" or "double the chances" or look at more people?

It really doesn't work like that. First of all, if only ten percent of people are same-sex attracted, your dating pool's only expanded by ten percent over heterosexuals. And what about personal taste, your own and other peoples'? There really aren't that many intelligent, funny, short, dark-haired people in the world who are willing to sleep with me, you know?

So why do people spread this ignorance and think it's funny?

Because a lot of people think bisexuals are promiscuous. To them, we just want to have our cake and eat it too. It really bugs me. We almost have no loop to fall in.

I'm bisexual and I didn't "jump on the bandwagon", I'm not desperate for a date, I am a loyal partner.

Straight people have asked me if I only be with girls for fun, then when I say no, they can't understand why I would spend my life with a woman if I would also with a man.

Gay/Lesbians, I've known some to stop talking to me all together, like I was a traitor, because I wasn't queer enough.

It's hard being completely misunderstood all the time. If love is at my feet I will not discriminate against the gender of a person; it doesn't bother me. What's wrong with that? Everyone has a preference whether you're gay, lesbian, straight, whatever, I have no problem with anyone... love who you want to love... there's so much hate in this world that NO ONE should be upset with you for who you wish to love and if the gender of your love interests happen to change over the years.

Actually, even if you limit yourself to "There really aren't that many intelligent, funny, short, dark-haired people in the world who are willing to sleep with me" but you do include both men and women your chances of finding what you are looking for is greater than someone who limits themselves to either heterosexuality or homosexuality. Even if homosexuals do "only" make up 10% of the population, by adding that 10% into the equation you do indeed increase your overall base of choices. Whether or not you can actually find someone that fits into your particular criteria of acceptability is your personal decision.
While your choices may not be actually doubled it is still an increase above that which someone who is strictly homosexual or heterosexual has to choose from.

Finding a mate is never easy, but not being limited by sex is a nice option. You're right that not many people are same-sex attracted, but as a bisexual you do get the best of worlds. If I could have an intimate relationship with a woman, I would be bisexual. Personally, sex is easier. Sometimes it seems like there is a lack of good men in the world, and it would be nice to expand my horizons. My genetic attraction does not allow me to do so.

While it may not be easy, at least you do have more choices, even if it's not that many.

Because the general idea of a bisexual is this cool person who is just playing around. They play most with the same gender until they find someone of the opposite sex to settle down with, then the games are over. They are more threatened by the homosexual who they think has no "chance" to fall for the opposite gender, so they call them hopeless. They just find you cool and confident and exploring your sexuality on your terms. No worries, most don't view bisexuality as bad, they wallow in their denial and think of it as just a "phase" that you have to be "cured" so that you won't slide into homosexuality.

Such ignorance.

God knows, if I'm getting double the dates, I'd have killed myself if I were straight. I've had one date since my breakup in January.

And another thing, I never did get my 'toaster' when I became Bi. Who do I see about that?

Good question! I think people say many things about many subjects in ignorance. As they say, "talk is cheap." And especially about sexual orientations that they do not share; they look down upon them, criticize them, like to feel superior, etc., when actually they often speak out of their own insecurities and unconscious desires...

sometimes i admit i have thought that... that they look at more people ... bc my gf is bi... and with my insecurity it was the quickest and easiest card to play however, wrong. she has been nothing but loyal to me, and i dont see her that way at all. i think people say that because for the most part bc it is hard for them to understand that someone can be in the middle and not one or the other. and i dont think they ever will understand, unfortunately.

woody allen said it best....being bi sexual doubles your chances for a date for friday nite. i dont agree with that assessment 100%. but i will say this, being a pre op TS (MTF) and being bi myself, it is more difficult than what most of the ignorant ones among us think.

I dont think that, What I dont get is if you are bisexual, when you are with a women, do u look at men, or sleep with men, and vise versa? Or do u commit yourself to the one you are with at the time. Because that is how it should be.
